OSCARS 2011

well the OSCARS have come and gone. but now is the best part (the critics turn to reign in on everything). this year i basically just watched the live red carpet show before hand and skimmed through magazines during the show. i really wasn't too thrilled about the host(GASP)-yes i said it!! don't get me wrong i think Franco has something going for him the in the looks department and i usually think Anne is a great up and coming style icon(except for last night) buuuuut with that being said i don't know why that gives them the right to host the oscars. i need someone with jokes, a little filth, and some evil humor towards the celebs. i mean us humans are sitting here watching these aliens look gorgeous, wear dresses that we would die to have on, and on top of that receive gold naked men statues, so we would LOVE nothing more for them to get knocked back down to earth. i also wasn't too excited about any of the movies this year but ONE thing i was definitely eagerly anticipating was what all the celebs would be wearing. and surprisingly i didn't feel like there were that many let downs this year (just a few mistake that can easily be fixed for next time). lace, sparkle, and different hues of my alumni color (GEAUX LSU) were all the hits on the red carpet this year. i recently talked about lace and sparkle(on the grammy's red carpet) and loved that the celebs decided to get into the spring spirit and wear these lovely trends down the carpet.

so most memorable for me: the guys and i don't mean the guys' tuxes either. I'm talking about their smokin wives/dates. Camilla Alves(Matthew Mcconaughey's lady) looked STUNNING in a sexy black number by Kaufmanfranco. also Rhea Durham(Marky Mark's hunny) sparkled in a two-toned Naeem Khan gown.

and as far as honorable mention: Mandy Moore in Monique Lhuillier, it might have washed her out just a tad bit, buutt that dress was B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L. also deserving some recognition is Mila Kunis in Elie Saab Couture. I wasn't too crazy about the lavender color, buutt i did love the dress.

do i hear wedding bells?

no bells are being rung in my life- but for anyone else who is deciding to get hitched you might want to reconsider your traditional wedding. GAAAASSSSP. did I really say to stray away from the traditional? HA!!! in past decades, most girls have worn the princess white dress and said their vows in their childhood church-however that is not the case anymore!! now days, couples are getting married on beaches, throughout mountain tops, on ranches, or even in someone’s back yard. for all these reasons, Urban Outfitters’ thinks that their new wedding line, Bhldn, will be a hit among the young sophisticated hipster under the age of thirty.

According to Huffington Post, Kristen Norris, managing director said “we’re confident that we’re filling in space that no one’s filling in. We’re offering a take that’s not out there. We have a lot shorter dresses, lots of color, and lots and lots of prints.”

URBN won’t stop at the dress though; they want to be a part of the whole concept. They want to be there for every step you take for the BIG DAY. The website will also include accessories, jewelry, lingerie, tabletop, cake pedestals, and everything else for decorating a wedding. aanndd you can even access wedding stylists' advice via website too!!

To find about more about the DIY line that launches FEB 14, 2011 read more at WWD.

SAG AWARDS 2011 aka SAFE.AWFUL.GOWNS

after watching the sag awards (ok ok I didn’t watch all of it-I just saw enough to report on the fashion and then I turned it to RHOA finale- don’t judge!) anyhow after seeing the dresses last night I thought I would stick with my fashion victims from the golden globes and rate them this go around...let’s hope by the time the Oscars get here they finally nail it or hire me as their stylist :)

Young Hollywood Blondes aka Emma Stone

Since I couldn’t find Emma at the SAG Awards I thought these girls would work? All joking aside January Jones and Claire Danes both look beautiful but both looks fall a little short for me. January's Carolina Herrera silhouette is fab and the print is okkkayyy- but the swirl on top of her head is a little too much for me(save it for your ice cream cone) I also think Claire's Louis Vuitton frock is very fun and flirty and I love her hot pink lips but I think she could have snazzed up her hair and jewelry for a little bit more excitement. or i almost think both girls could switch looks and that would have have worked better?

Natalie Portman in Azarro

UPGRADE.well ms. portman must read my blog (ha wishful thinking eh?) but seriously I would definitely have to say she upgraded from the golden globes and I only hope she keeps upgrading even more by the time the Oscars come around. I think the fit, color, hair, and makeup all suit her well for a “sophisticated-mom to be". The only thing I would like to see her change by the Oscars is maybe to "sex it up" a little bit- yes I said that!! She needs let her hair down, show of those tatas (we all know how wonderful those things look when your preggers) and wear some electric color that screams "I’ve got a bump and I’m still gorge!!" I’m keeping my fingers cross that she stays on the right tracks and nails her look when she receives her first Oscar!!

Christina Hendricks in L'Wren Scott
DOWNGRADE-I feel like I should be nice since I was so negative about her dress at the golden globes- but I can’t find anything nice to say (I know my mom always said if you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say anything at all- but I like to look at it as positive criticism) she MUST NOT read my blog-ha! I’m pretty sure I said to pick some color any color next time and that being said BLACK is not a color. If I didn’t know any better I would think she was showing up for a twilight casting. the eye makeup is too much, the skin is too pale, the slit is too high, and the shoes are just eww. christina, christina, christina I’m thinking third times a charm?? I would say it can’t get any worse from here-but with you who knows what could happen. there are some people like you who just love being on the worst dress list everytime. more power too you sister

i'll be having leftovers tonight...

if u weren’t wandering around herald square last year searching through garbage bags then you might not have found all the bags full of lanvin clothes!!! before you have a heart attack bc you missed out on the designer duds, they weren’t exactly in wearable condition. as the New York Time Wrote "Gloves had the fingers cut off""Men's jackets, slashed across the body and the arms. The puffy fiber fill was coming out in big white cotton balls."

WHO COULD HAVE DONE THIS??? maybe it was someone who worked at McQueen who was jealous over all the INSANITY&CHAOS over lanvin arriving at H&M stores.all joking aside. H&M soon owned up to crime and was willing to do the time. After receiving backlash for their method of trying to "preserve fast fashion" H&M promised to stop slashing and trashing its clothes.

So they stuck to their word and waahlaahh-WASTE-(this is a “new” line made from "leftover” materials of the lanvin collection)

LOVE.LOVE.LOVE.

Tis' the season!

yes. it thats time of the year where flowers start blooming-pollen turns your car yellow and eating outside is best way to go...but more importantly its that time of the season for PARTIES!!! whether its a debutante garden party, a sip and see baby shower, or a wild and crazy night out on the town for a bachelorette party- you'll need to the perfect dress for each occasion! if you are like me with a tight budget-buying a nice dress for each occasion can be VERY COSTLY and burn a whole in those pockets!

You can ALWAYS borrow a dress from one of your friend’s but- i find a few things usually go wrong with that choice- 1. she has probably worn it before and therefore most of you inner circle has seen it 2. having a friend who has the EXACT same body type as you is like finding a boy who is EXACTLY how you imagined prince charming to be-therefore more than likely it will not fit nor look near as cute on you as it looked on your friend and lastly 3. i have learned the dry cleaners DO NOT get every type of stain out-yikes!!)

SO whats the next best option you ask? RENT THE RUNWAY!! while i was watching my daily dose of hoda and kathy lee i was introduced to this amazing website by them! Basically the name says exactly what it is!! sooo here we gooo....

1. become a member of the website (its free but sometimes u have a wait a little while for them to accept you-but definitely worth the wait!!)

2. once you become a member you can log in and browse their AMAZING selection of dresses (they have EVERY INCREDIBLE designer you could possibly think of- catherine malandrino-herve leger-nicole miller-dvf-yada yada yada...)

3. Next just select the type of dress that best suits your occasion and GET THIS- you rent it for nearly 75% of the original cost!!

4. Lastly they will ship you the dress AND a second size (incase you miscalculated some of your measurements-wink wink)

5. FINALLY- you get the dress-wear it to the party- look like the queen of the ball in a fabulous designer dress-then ship it back-simple enough right??

I have selected some of my favorite dresses from this website for different occasions below!!
