OSCARS 2011-MISHAPS

like i said yesterday, i didn't think there was that many bad fashion choices at the OSCARS this year.... just a few tiny mistakes here and there.so as far as poor decisions goes, i would like to first start off with Cate Blanchett's Givenchy Couture frock, I'm still not a fan of lavender(i think its one of those colors that should only be used on walls) and also it seems as if Cate misplaced the self portrait of herself that was obviously suppose to go into the picture frame on the front of her dress(sorry for the harshness).as jayz says "on to the next one"....and so its Amy Adams-a navy dress is about as cool as navy shoes (save it for weddings)!!! I'm all down for full on sparkle dress, but next time Amy please pick it a better color and leave out the mismatch pendent necklace while your at it. oooooohhhh and bbbbyyyyyy the way does anyone else think Reese Witherspoon looked like she was going to a themed party?(maybe her invitation to the Oscars lacked black tie affair on it) but all joking aside i didn't mind her Armani dress, but the  ponytail just threw me for a loop. ok.ok.ok. i could probably go on and on and on-buuuuutttt i think I'm starting to be a little like ricky gervais and not knowing when to stop. so i guess ill give it a rest until the next award season... DUN DUN DUN(the sound of anticipation.).....

PS. if you are wondering why G.Paltrow didn't make my list of best dressed-it was bc of that awkward pendent on her hip. i mean sometimes small things like jewelry/hair can just kill a whole look.

OSCARS 2011

well the OSCARS have come and gone. but now is the best part (the critics turn to reign in on everything). this year i basically just watched the live red carpet show before hand and skimmed through magazines during the show. i really wasn't too thrilled about the host(GASP)-yes i said it!! don't get me wrong i think Franco has something going for him the in the looks department and i usually think Anne is a great up and coming style icon(except for last night) buuuuut with that being said i don't know why that gives them the right to host the oscars. i need someone with jokes, a little filth, and some evil humor towards the celebs. i mean us humans are sitting here watching these aliens look gorgeous, wear dresses that we would die to have on, and on top of that receive gold naked men statues, so we would LOVE nothing more for them to get knocked back down to earth. i also wasn't too excited about any of the movies this year but ONE thing i was definitely eagerly anticipating was what all the celebs would be wearing. and surprisingly i didn't feel like there were that many let downs this year (just a few mistake that can easily be fixed for next time). lace, sparkle, and different hues of my alumni color (GEAUX LSU) were all the hits on the red carpet this year. i recently talked about lace and sparkle(on the grammy's red carpet) and loved that the celebs decided to get into the spring spirit and wear these lovely trends down the carpet.

so most memorable for me: the guys and i don't mean the guys' tuxes either. I'm talking about their smokin wives/dates. Camilla Alves(Matthew Mcconaughey's lady) looked STUNNING in a sexy black number by Kaufmanfranco. also Rhea Durham(Marky Mark's hunny) sparkled in a two-toned Naeem Khan gown.

and as far as honorable mention: Mandy Moore in Monique Lhuillier, it might have washed her out just a tad bit, buutt that dress was B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L. also deserving some recognition is Mila Kunis in Elie Saab Couture. I wasn't too crazy about the lavender color, buutt i did love the dress.

GRAMMYS 2011

the grammys are know for their outlandish and daring outfits (how could you forget jlos green dress) and with that being said the 2011 award show did not disappoint at all. what can i say though these people are music icons not style icons!! but you would think they could afford a decent stylist- riiiiight? the outfits for the night were not a complete let down though. i loved seeing the bronze, shimmer look on the red carpet. so hedi klum, selena gomez and kim k all get thumbs up from me(notice how none of them are music artists). now for the long list of celebs who get thumbs down- rhinna, katy perry(i think she took some leftovers from the VS fashion show), ciara, and gaga!!! sorry im not a fan of cotton balls, angel wings, gladiator outfits, or eggs(unless im eating them). i know that they each want to be unique and express the individual artist within them, buuuut i think there is a classy and tasteful way to go about doing that. my advice is- hire a fashion stylist, add some pop-out color or shimmer to your outfit, and just let your amazing talent and voice make you stand out!! this only makes me more excited for feb 27th where real fashion will prevail.

SAG AWARDS 2011 aka SAFE.AWFUL.GOWNS

after watching the sag awards (ok ok I didn’t watch all of it-I just saw enough to report on the fashion and then I turned it to RHOA finale- don’t judge!) anyhow after seeing the dresses last night I thought I would stick with my fashion victims from the golden globes and rate them this go around...let’s hope by the time the Oscars get here they finally nail it or hire me as their stylist :)

Young Hollywood Blondes aka Emma Stone

Since I couldn’t find Emma at the SAG Awards I thought these girls would work? All joking aside January Jones and Claire Danes both look beautiful but both looks fall a little short for me. January's Carolina Herrera silhouette is fab and the print is okkkayyy- but the swirl on top of her head is a little too much for me(save it for your ice cream cone) I also think Claire's Louis Vuitton frock is very fun and flirty and I love her hot pink lips but I think she could have snazzed up her hair and jewelry for a little bit more excitement. or i almost think both girls could switch looks and that would have have worked better?

Natalie Portman in Azarro

UPGRADE.well ms. portman must read my blog (ha wishful thinking eh?) but seriously I would definitely have to say she upgraded from the golden globes and I only hope she keeps upgrading even more by the time the Oscars come around. I think the fit, color, hair, and makeup all suit her well for a “sophisticated-mom to be". The only thing I would like to see her change by the Oscars is maybe to "sex it up" a little bit- yes I said that!! She needs let her hair down, show of those tatas (we all know how wonderful those things look when your preggers) and wear some electric color that screams "I’ve got a bump and I’m still gorge!!" I’m keeping my fingers cross that she stays on the right tracks and nails her look when she receives her first Oscar!!

Christina Hendricks in L'Wren Scott
DOWNGRADE-I feel like I should be nice since I was so negative about her dress at the golden globes- but I can’t find anything nice to say (I know my mom always said if you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say anything at all- but I like to look at it as positive criticism) she MUST NOT read my blog-ha! I’m pretty sure I said to pick some color any color next time and that being said BLACK is not a color. If I didn’t know any better I would think she was showing up for a twilight casting. the eye makeup is too much, the skin is too pale, the slit is too high, and the shoes are just eww. christina, christina, christina I’m thinking third times a charm?? I would say it can’t get any worse from here-but with you who knows what could happen. there are some people like you who just love being on the worst dress list everytime. more power too you sister

19.1.11

nothing GOLDEN about this event.

The time of year has arrived again -it's AWARDS SEASON folks. however to me no one really cares about the awards, it’s really just all about who is wearing what, who is bringing who (or sleeping with), and who succeeded at starving themselves the best....SO after watching the Golden Globes this past weekend - I have to say i feel like most of the celebs’ stylist either took the night off or failed their clients miserably. So instead of showing off my favorite looks for the night- I thought I’d shake things up a little bit and take a few of the nights’ looks and show how I thought they could have been done better....

Emma Stone in Calvin Klein

when I first saw this dress on tv-i knew exactly that the wonderful mr.calvin klein had designed it. however I did not know who was in it. I soon learned later that her name was emma stone. don’t get me wrong I think this dress is as beautiful as she is-but you can’t just stop at the dress! it’s a complete look you are trying to achieve and to me her jewelry falls short and fails at completing the "im a young hollywood actress and don’t have to try too hard to be gorgeous"...

so what would i do differently you ask???

1. change the color of the dress (peachy color dress does not enhance peachy color skin with golden locks) it only turns you into a peachy blob!!
2. add some color (I would first start off with some playful turquiose earrings or some gaudy emerald vintage earrings)
3. jazz it up a notch with some sparkling gold and rhinestone bangles
4. YOU'RE DONE- you now have achieved the young hollywood look but making it a little more exciting and fun!

SOOO emma, keep in mind that being a minmalist only works if you are as stunning as angelina jolie and im pretty sure you have a lot more years, working out, and kids to add to your list until you acheive her stature.

Natalie Portman in Viktor and Rolf

it seemed like everyone was dddyyying to see how ms.portman or should i say soon to be mrs.millepied was goin to show off her baby bump and to me she definately showed it off but in the completely wrong way and she even gave herself a rear bump too(not so ghetto-fab).
so what would i do differently you ask??

1.wear an actual dress and not show up in your asian silk robe
2.I would have definitely worn a sweetheart shaped dress with a flowing bottom(she's got a bump but not a big enough one for it to be cute and shown, it could be sadly mistaken for a food baby at this stage in the game)
3.add some dainty, sophisticated earrings that scream “im a mom to be”
4.YOU'RE DONE-kick off your heels and get some sleep while you can.

Sooo mrs. millepiede we all get it- your every guys dream girl, you went to an ivy league school, your just so naturally pretty...yada yada yada..but next time you get dress for an award show remember to do yourself justice and actually put on a gown bc we all know there’s nothing more a man likes than a hot mom to be.

Christina Hendricks in Romana Kaveza
speechless.

what would i do differently you ask??

1.pick a different color!!! any color just please not a shade of red.
2.stay away from putting huge ruffles that look as if something is attacking/growing on your neck
3.tame down the volume
4.YOU'RE DONE just make sure the only thing you see red that night is the carpet you are walking on

sooo ms.hendricks, you really out did yourself this time.as if your fiery and teased out tresses weren't enough you had to go and add some ruby red lipstick to match your mean one shoulder red dress.ENOUGHA ALREADY.we get it- you're a ginger and your embracing it to the fullest- but see we dont all wanna embrace it with you. so next time, just add some other colors to your life that enchance the inner (i mean outer ginger in you) and i promise you will rock that curvy, sexy figure of yours great!

Ricky Gervais in Ellen DeGenres

no complaints here from me. you were one of the few who nailed it that night. I wish you would come back ever year, seeing the celebs squirm in their seats or their awful comebacks at you make me giggle and keep me entertained in between all the dull celebrity speeches.

Oscars' SMACK down

After watching the Oscars this past weekend- there was ONE trend that I noticed every celeb wearing that I could actually afford without having to sell my car, my blackberry (this would be the last to go), or my little sister so I could look like the queen of the ball in a glowing sequin Marchesa gown like Sandra Bullock- and NO I'm not referring to Spanxs' either! I'm talking about the showdown of who wore BRIGHT COLORED LIPSTICK the best.

You too can add a pop of color to your ensemble by just purchasing a tube of lipstick all under $30 dollars- AND its okay to wear it two days in a row!

1. Coco Rouge by Chanel worn by Sandra
2. Schiap by Nars worn by Maggie
3. Chili by MAC worn by Cameron
